  1. Take the online Pre-Poll
  2. Brush-up navigation training & scavenger hunt
  3. Visit one non-profit or one for-profit venture listed at the bottom of this page (and on the notecard you received within SL) and evaluate according to the criteria listed in the section Evaluation Criteria (Next section).

Note: One key element of this exercise is to interview a business owner/employee using the IM chat feature. (Most likely they work during US "business hours). Ask 3 of the 5 questions listed here, and any others that you'd like to ask:

    • When was the business established?
    • Why was the business established?
    • What were the hurdles that had to be overcome?
    • How do you measure success?
    • Has it been worth the effort? If yes, why?

(Important! At some point during the dialog, take a snapshot of the screen using the Snapshot button below. Click on Send Email, enter cgardner@sandiego.edu in the address field).

Finally: Take the online Post-Poll

Homework:Professor Nitsch will mention any homework in class Tuesday evening.

Evaluate your chosen site(s) as you would an e-commerce website (These are just 3D websites that add depth). In your evaluations, consider the site's:
  • Purpose
  • Organization
  • Ease of Use
  • Attractive Layout
  • Functionality
  • Is there any flow of commerce or other connection to the outside“real” world?
